Wednesday 5th of December 2018
Wood Seminar Room (OK 406), Victoria University of Wellington
We welcome 100-200 word abstract submissions, due September 20th 2018 emailed to Catherine.firstname.lastname@example.org
Please indicate which of the two panels you would like to be included in.
9.30am-12pm. Panel One: current directions in medical anthropology in Aotearoa
We welcome 10-20 minute papers discussing scholars’ current research projects. Scholars in the midst of fieldwork or at the beginning of projects are welcome to offer a 10-minute field report, ethnographic vignette, or ‘ethical challenges of fieldwork’ presentation. We also invite conference papers.
1-3.30pm Panel Two: Medical anthropology outside the box
In this panel we invite presentations that push the conventional boundaries of medical anthropology. We encourage submissions that might help us challenge medical anthropology’s reach, its disciplinary confines, its approach to knowledge production, its understanding of ethnography, and its engagements with public life and diverse communities. We also welcome papers that sit at the intersections of ethnography and other modes of expression, be they poetry, activist writing, or performance.
